American students can spend about 1000 hours a year in the classroom. Is that time well-spent? Whose idea was that, anyway, and what are they getting out of it? Memorization of facts has not been a proven method for long-term retention or the development of critical thinking skills. Additionally, student engagement is increasingly difficult in our modern technological world. Attention spans are decreasing and the education system is battling low student engagement.
Educational Fiction is the support of learning through the use of Story. We are engaged in stories all around us and every student can relate to exciting and engaging stories. Innovative Learning Press is seeking authors who write fiction that teaches K-12 about History, Science, Social Science, and more.
If you have a WIP or completed manuscript that you believe will fit in the educational fiction genre, submit a query or email us for more information.
